Children's Computed Tomography (CT) Scan

Physicians use the CT examination to help detect a wide range of abnormalities and disease, including cancer, in any part of a child's body. Children's (pediatric) CT is typically used to help diagnose and monitor treatment for infectious or inflammatory disorders, abdominal pain, headaches and injury-related changes. Newborns, infants and older children may undergo a CT scan.

Children's Abdominal Ultrasound

Pediatric abdominal ultrasound imaging produces pictures of the internal organs and blood vessels located within a child's abdomen. Doppler ultrasound is a special ultrasound technique that evaluates blood as it flows through a blood vessel, including the body's major arteries and veins in the abdomen, arms, legs and neck. A Doppler ultrasound study may be part of a child's abdominal ultrasound examination.

Children's Nuclear Medicine

Pediatric nuclear medicine refers to examinations done in babies, young children and teenagers. Nuclear medicine or radionuclide imaging procedures are non-invasive and usually painless medical tests and are perfect diagnostic methods for babies and very young children. These imaging scans use radioactive materials called radiopharmaceuticals or radiotracers.
